Well you can’t move either on an Ifor trailer therefore unless you really have to work in a confined space then the 5t will be of much better use. Volvo have ECR machines which are reduced swing so not ideal for farm use, if you can find a tidy EC55B or C it would be a good machine. Not a lot of people rate JCBs but know of o few 8045s etc on farms.

13 ton isnt has handy for cleaning out sheughs as a smaller digger, especially up against a hedge, you need to sit further away and can be hard to see the sheugg bottom. Personally take our 3 ton over our 8 ton for this very reason when cleaning out sheughs. A 8 ton with 180 on it would be ideal for sheaughs.
Just like Telehandlers. I don't have one but have had jobs to do and used anything from a 520/50 to a 540/170

Some of our ditches a 3t wouldn't have the reach as our 8t is on the limit so would always have an 8t

I was thinking of 8 ton in same series as the 55b

Volvo haven't got one unfortunately. I think the 55 has been a 60 now for a while. Not a lot of manufacturers cater for that size anymore as they're concentrating on the hire and utility sector etc. Even rarer now is a side boom 7.5 / 8 T machine like the old EX 60 and JS70 etc.

Real tidy 60-5 for someone, would be tempted if i didnt already have one

We run a 4 ton Komatsu digger, shes getting on now with the amount of hours but found her a good all round - good in the barns mucking out and hefty enough for its reach for all its other jobs. Done allot of track digging over the years, perfect width going through the woodland.
