Been around long enough to have a few hours on now so how are early buyers getting on with these tractors ?

Reliable ? performance etc ?

Ask @nofarmerguy on Twitter. Pretty sure he’ll go with another when the NH is up for replacement. I drove it at harvest and it was truly awesome. The 4 wheel steer makes it really great to manoeuvre. Power seems good, the layout inside is such an improvement compared to the 3230.

I think if there was any major issues with them they would have appeared on TFF by now.

Either they don't, or JCB are sorting problems out properly. Was a problem with front diff on early models but JCB upgraded tractors with lower spec difference as far as I'm aware.

I thought the lack of tyre options put you off them Clive?

Cramphorn's have four or five I think. I was told they had quite a lot of problems with one but JCB got it sorted. I had one on demo last year. It would be the only tractor to tempt me away from my current brand of choice. Absolutely loved it. Just wish I could afford it

Small wheel size does put me off as main field work tractors yes but I am considering an additional tractor for mainly road work supporting drilling and sprayers etc plus harvest cart but also able to provide a reserve field tractor if one of the fendts went down at a critical time

I’ve had a fastrac in the past though and it was not a happy experience ! Was a long time and a lot of models ago now though

Got a 2015 and a 2017 one here. They've had some breakdowns but backup from JCB and the local dealer is very good. JCB are also throwing a lot of money at them trying to get them right, and have done several mods to make them more reliable. The newer one has had an air brake switch and that's about it. JCB's supplier sold them a bad batch I was told.

Ours is shod on 540/R34s and does everything from 8m Dale eco drill to top dressing to triple mowers - a very versatile and comfy tractor.
We're on heavy clay land and have finished our spring drilling so doesn't make too much mess. Ours are unchipped and ~235hp at the pto.

I know people say they are on small wheels BUT:
4220 = 8t, weight distribuition 50/50 so 4t per axle
Fendt 824 = 9.3t, weight distribuition 60/40 so 5.6t rear 3.7t front.

As standard the Fendt has the same front tyre options a the JCB so not much difference. Just rember if the Fendt was 1.5t lighter on the back you wouldn't need so big a tyre - which is effectively what the JCB is.

The latest ones are a completely different animal compared to what has past, the cab shape give so much more space, fendt box as you well know is great in auto or poweshift. Guy has the 3230 and its loathed on the farm by his dad and the chap that works for him,

I’ve got a 14 month old 4220 and it’s had an upgraded front diff and an air tank switch. Plus an exhaust bracket. Not bad for 1500 hrs I would say. Dealer and jcb back up very good.

But a 724 which in reality is a fastrac's competition is 7.75t over a weighbridge on bigger tyres and a smaller turning radius so only 3.1t on the front end.

I think fastrac is a great machine but is still not a field tractor they are far better then they were but tried one a year ago on range jobs and far better on beet cart then rest but on 6f plough on beet ground a 200hp NH sailed past despite the fastrac chipped to over 240hp. Our contractor runs one and is fantastic for what he does DD drilling and spraying so suit Clive well and JCB backup is superb trying to prove them!

The last I heard was that my godson had claimed it as corn cart tractor;)

Lads that park in my yard have a 4220 . It’s done just over 3000 hrs in 12 mths , mostly dragging 4000 g tank , had new diff that jcb stood and a few niggles like sensors etc , but they have sort them . They have more if they were cheaper ,

Only had 1 on demo and it's the only different breed that would coax me out of my JD cab anyway !

I had it on the sumo and the plough in less than favourable conditions and once the tyres were let down she could fairly grip I think it was on 600 tyres but could be wrong

There's 1 fairly local to us and he says other than servicing it's been reliable

I didn’t think about comparing it to a 724, however I doubt the turning circle would be better if you used the Fastracs 4 wheel steer.

Only problem with Fastracs is you have to spend a bit more time setting them up, getting the weight and tyre pressures right is the key. I’ve seen a few get PDI’d and put straight on a plough with delivery pressures in the tyres. Let the tyres down to something more reasonable, add a bit of weight if necessary and they become a different animal.
