We have a field the shape of a valley on our farm, which we massively under utilise as the banks are too steep get a tractor up, we can’t graze with cattle (away from main grazing block and needs re fencing) and own no sheep.
It used to be a motor cross track 20+ yrs ago, but I’m tempted to try and build an 4x4 track.

I enjoy mucking around with landys myself but also wondered about having a pay and play sort of event on the field. Has anyone on here done similar or know if planning permission would be required to build a track?

basically I take it if you physically alter the field with the use of an excavator you need planning, but if you just drive over grass which can eventually recover it is possible to get away without it.
Keep the straight through pipes away till at least lunch time on a Sunday. Td5’s with straight pipes probably cause more grief for off-roaders than anything else

A pal set up a motorcycle event field near The Bathurst Arms pub twenty+ years ago. He held two events. I attended the second and they were good to watch, particularly the pre ‘65 machines.

About two or three weeks later after each event, his shed was broken into. They took his elderly saws and tools. Of course the second time it was all new stuff.
After that he couldn’t get insurance.
They were the perfect opportunity for folk of that inclination to plan an uninvited visit😡

Hi Dave.

Hope you are well.

This could potentially be an opportunity to use imported soils to develop the land and generate you revenue while building the 4x4 track. This is something we undertake and support with from inception through planning, permitting and delivery. Happy to come and see you and discuss if of interest.

Best Regards

Sam

Better still Is find a clay shooting ground and try and get them to heighten their bunds! At £100-150 a load for inert muck it’s good money
