Have got something virtually identical here, although only one cut out so far and not fitted.

Has anyone used weighted gutlers vs non weighted, and seen a big difference?
I have not tried weighted vs non weighted but think you make a good point. IMO it's important to to have slot closure and we struggle on our heavier land to get that with no weight, also delaying drilling means shorter drill window so we are going faster then we should (maybe should of got a 6m!!) the weight definitely stops it bouncing at speed.

Same theory here as I'm mostly drilling on heavy land, and often later too. I had a camera on drill frame so I could see/monitor the gutler bounce from cab to allow me to alter forward speed to suit. I think a weight will help, hence getting a disc cut out as a trial to see how well it fitted inside the gutler. I will probably get another 35 cut out and fitted to drill before the spring, in theory on lighter/kinder land you could run weighted with less spring pressure, rather than removing weight maybe?

What is the verdict on how to place liquid fertiliser on the 750a? I think its something I need to look at doing in case customers ask for it - will use a front tank system, but need to decide how to place it down near the seed..

have finally perfected the correct tube shape to run it down the coulter - thats the best place I reckon having tried about 3 or 4 others ays to do it now

Have been thinking of having a tank on the rear three point so weight is over the rear tractor wheels, to help with traction on the hills. Would just make everything longer for turning.

considered that option but I think it would loose you all visibility of the coulters etc ?

Got these made up for extra weight, 2 for each guttler if needed, work really wellView attachment 251296

That was exactly the line I was thinking along. Here are the Drawings.
I think the 20mm thick one is going to be the most popular, it will give you the same downforce on the least spring pressure as you would get on the max down pressure without a weight. Geoffrey Wox is going to make some if you want any, you can contact Wox Agri Services or see him at LAMMA Stand R54

I measured 4.5KG per notch on the closing wheel spring. A 210 mm diameter disc 20mm thick with a 70 mm hole in the middle weighs this according to my steel ordering book. Have ordered 36 @£10 each just need to drill the fixing holes, countersink on the Gutter should give a clean fix.

Just had a call from Geoffrey Wox and the 20 mm thick weights are going to work out at £21 each retail provided he can get a reasonable sized order in. If you need more details contact Wox Agri.

thats pricey - my set for a 6m cost £18ea made (laser cut) from 20mm rockwell 355 steel (OTT but what he had in stock !)

would be less if I got a big order - anyone wanting any PM me !!

That's sounds a good price @Clive if we get a bigger order together what price do you think they will come in at and how many do you need in order to get that price?

most of the cost is setting up the laser cutter and using full sheets of steel leaving no off cut - I will speak to him today but reckon if we get 200 (already have over 100 required) I should be able to get to £17 or 400 maybe down to £16 is my estimate
