Aching Joints - Supplements?

Aye-up,

I’ve been wondering for the last couple of winters if there is any use in taking joint supplements.

This year I seem worse than ever, mostly because I now have a job where I’m on my feet all day.

Have any of you tried them? If so, are they worth it?

Cheers, Pete.

You might get more accustomed in time. Few stretches and try to get feet up in the breaks. Depends how worn things are.
Ibuprofen or Paracetamol for some comfort or a supplement like glucosamine/ chondroitin

ibuprofen ,occasionally to ease the joints ,if a very heavy workload i occasionally take in a high protein drink seems to help the muscles

I started taking PHD Life Move Tablets a year ago because of ankles/wrists/knees. They definitely help but everyone seems to be out of stock currently and I’ve run out. I’ve just got some Vitabiotics ones from Tesco and they don’t seem much use. Crappy damp weather no help!

37 yrs old and I was really starting to feel like I was falling to bits this summer. Started pilates in October. Unbelievable the difference it has made to strengthening and improving flexibility around sore joints. I found the class particularly difficult to start, especially when surrounded by a room of women who are both stronger and more flexibile! However once I got over the embarrassment and just focused on making small gains every week I started to feel better about it and can definitely notice a big difference.

No. Well, we’ve considered it, but got away for three days in the last three years!

I’m 53, often been a bit achy over the years, but it’s pretty much constant now. Not unbearable by any standards, but niggling and draining all day.

I think I’ve got some arthritis in the big joints on my feet leading to my big toes as well. They are often tender and if I knock them they make me go through the roof!

It seems there is something aching every day. Not everything, every day, but always something.

But then I think to myself, buck up you pillock, loads of people have huge health problems to deal with!

I felt the same....back, shoulder, hip, knees....always something. I'm not going to say pilates is a miracle worker but I've had a lot less niggles in the last 6 weeks and it has made a big difference to my energy levels. I tried all sorts of supplements but in the end the best help has definitely been the pilates.

Stupid question elsewhere, but not in farming.... But have you been to the doctor?

No, not specifically for this.

I don’t think he’ll be too enamoured by me if I just rock up and say I’m a bit achy!

Having been through several bouts of crippling back pain over the years I’ve been told that pain that moves around is a “good” pain. If it’s in one place and relentless it’s a bad thing.

One of the best things I do each day is get home and have a lie down on the floor for twenty minutes each evening. I feel much better after that.

I spend about 15-20 minutes stretching and exercising every morning too, with a routine given me by chiropractors over the years. That’s definitely a good thing.

No. Why do you ask that? I don’t know much about it.
Often affects the joints you talk about and presents the same as arthritis. Is a disease of good living / diet. Most farmer diets are pretty high risk for gout. It’s worth getting it ruled out.
