Aching Joints - Supplements?

Gout buggered my joints, feet and hands. Used to scream if the collie touched them of an evening. The children knew better!

Hips and knees ache from wear and tear, but pills, better diet, less whisky, and drinking an ocean full of water a day has stopped the uric acid inflammation

Get it ruled out before your joints are as damaged as mine

Neighbour swears by cbd oil for his aches. I've tried it at his recommendation, but can't say I noticed much improvement. The green herb that they make the oil from, however, that's a completely different story 🙈

No, not specifically for this.

I don’t think he’ll be too enamoured by me if I just rock up and say I’m a bit achy!

Having been through several bouts of crippling back pain over the years I’ve been told that pain that moves around is a “good” pain. If it’s in one place and relentless it’s a bad thing.

One of the best things I do each day is get home and have a lie down on the floor for twenty minutes each evening. I feel much better after that.

I spend about 15-20 minutes stretching and exercising every morning too, with a routine given me by chiropractors over the years. That’s definitely a good thing.
Old man was a bit achy when he was your age, particularly his knees. He put it down to wearing Noras on concrete for 30 years.

A friend convinced him to go to the doc who diagnosed anaemia caused by colon cancer. Once he'd recovered from surgery and chemo, his aching knees were much improved. Put it down to better muscle condition put on after he ceased being anaemic.

So yeh, could be nothing. Could be something tho. Get it checked.

Funny iron was mentioned above. I’m about to go on iron injections (stuffed kidneys) as, although my iron isn’t all that low, my joints and muscles are aching like buggery all the time. Might be worth getting the GP to run some bloods for you.

I’ll report back when I’m up and running with the iron jabs.

No. Well, we’ve considered it, but got away for three days in the last three years!

I’m 53, often been a bit achy over the years, but it’s pretty much constant now. Not unbearable by any standards, but niggling and draining all day.

I think I’ve got some arthritis in the big joints on my feet leading to my big toes as well. They are often tender and if I knock them they make me go through the roof!

It seems there is something aching every day. Not everything, every day, but always something.

But then I think to myself, buck up you pillock, loads of people have huge health problems to deal with!
your not on statin's are you? muscle and joint pain can be horrendous , i was on to high dose it almost became suicidal:mad:

I’m not on any medication at all. I don’t really use any painkillers unless I have a very occasional monster headache, maybe once a year.

I’m 6’1” and 14 stone, never smoked even one cigarette, not a heavy drinker. In fact I hardly drink alcohol at all these days, it doesn’t agree with me.

Diet: huge bowl of muesli type breakfast every morning, apple and a biscuit mid morning, sandwich of ham/cheese/meat for lunch with crisps, yoghurt, satsuma, cake. Evening meal, your typical meat and three veg, fish once or twice a week.

I drink kefir yoghurt twice a day. Lovely stuff and keeps everything regular. I would highly recommend that stuff.

I drink one coffee a day and maybe 3-4 cups of tea. A lot of water, 1-2 litres every day, but if it’s hot that could double. Spend half my day having a leak!!

I’m active and (I think) quite fit. Sleep well and wake up well. I do feel very stressed at times. Not by big stuff, but lots of little things.

The cold and damp definitely gets to me the older I get. Come the spring I expect these aches to wither away, they usually do.

My brother in law suffers with gout, so I’ll perhaps have a word with him, see what he thinks.

I started taking a daily tumeric tablet almost a year ago, alongside glucosamin/chondroitin. At the time, I couldn't step up with me left knee- even a kerb was excruciating.

Made a massive difference- pain/inflammation went after a few days, and I'm no longer as stiff and achy as I was. Might do something, might not, but for £11 for 365 tablets, it's with a go.

go big on omega 3.
Cut anything inflammatory from your diet.
Add anti-inflammatory food to your diet
I added walnut, ginger and turmeric to my diet..i really think they have made a difference as well as giving up sugar
have plenty of quality olive oil
Plenty of other sources of omega 3s
im 61.
Just come back from a kitesurfing trip and i can kite longer with less aches and pains than i
could do 12 years ago.

Aye-up,

I’ve been wondering for the last couple of winters if there is any use in taking joint supplements.

This year I seem worse than ever, mostly because I now have a job where I’m on my feet all day.

Have any of you tried them? If so, are they worth it?

Cheers, Pete.
I have been taking Imoveactive for around 3months seem to be helping a little. gonna force myself to try Pilates & see if that offers any improvement

I tried stopping my statin for 3 months - Didn't make a blind bit of difference to achy legs!
perhap's you hadn't been taking twice the dose recomended for the other drug's you were taking, halved the dose and in 10 day's as differant again. that had taken 8 years of my life away doc just said it was my age and the job i was doing, thank goodness for a new doc and him picking up on it, if he hadn't i think i would have been gone long ago!

You can be anaemic due to a lot more reasons than iron alone same as aches and pains can be due to a whole raft of things.

Progress.

Long story short, someone suggested I try some insoles for metatarsalgia.

They are definitely worth a try if you are aching. Within 2-3 days the relief was remarkable.

I went field walking in my wellies yesterday and didn’t give the insoles a thought. I was back to square one last night, aching from head to foot.

Probably the best £25 I’ve ever spent and I would highly recommend them.
