Renting outAre you looking to rent land or are you renting out?
Is undersown maize with Sfi winter bird cover the new fashionable crop? It’s been mentioned a few times this last week. It certainly looks good financially.
Yep if rent is less than £614/Ha (£250/acre) put it into AHL1. The SFI has completely f**ked the FBT gameGonna have to compete with SFI...

Think the budget will be blown in to outer space if that happend on every fbt and cfa in the uk. But the point is correct sfi will mean that rents will not fall like many predicted.£853/ha AHL2 is now the base price for FBT and contract farming ‘guaranteed’ return to the ‘farmer’.

Yes going balls deep is a bad idea but I am biasedThink some people are going to be in a mess. An agent friend has successfully got an offer for 2000ac of AHL2 as well as many miles of hedgerows. Not that they know it yet but existing staff will be going after harvest 24 and there’s a machinery sale on the cards for the autumn.
When the ELMS budget is fully used and they turn round and say it’s only 10% of an sbi allowed then that farm is knackered because buying all new equipment again and restaffing won’t be any option with wheat at £150/t.

I have heard that many, many very big farm's are considering doing similar.Think some people are going to be in a mess. don't forget no pesticide and dd takes it to nearly 400/a£853/ha AHL2 is now the base price for FBT and contract farming ‘guaranteed’ return to the ‘farmer’.

You are not alone , similar thoughts here. That’s what I’m going to do on 500ac. I’ve got no choice to be brutally honest. If I don’t sign up we’ll be in a mess. Sadly it means a summer job will go along with a couple of tractor hires. A much reduced fertiliser and chemical order on top of that. Next year if things look better I can halve that 500ac to 250ac in the scheme but I suspect a year of doing much less might just push me further into it and put the lot in.
Dd drill and decent topper what’s not to like ? Rent your shed space out as well , can’t see it lasting though can you ?That’s what I’m going to do on 500ac. I’ve got no choice to be brutally honest. I think we might have to get used to it with prices and cost of production where they are; not to mention all the right weather but at the wrong time.Dd drill and decent topper what’s not to like ? Rent your shed space out as well , can’t see it lasting though can you ?
