Same here. We have fields in this scheme as well but it always amuses me that the waders are in the fields we are lambing the ewes in and very few in the fields that are shut off.15 march to 30 june inclusive no topping for here

Also the flies and grubs(their food supply) are where the stock is .same here! I firmly believe a lot of the measures work against waders! In my experience the wader chick survival is better on the bits that are more intensively farmers and the land is barer to enable them to move more freely and dry out in times of wet weather!
I always thought the clue was in the name......I bet there would be a lot more success if reseeding incentives were made instead, a break crop of oats for a year or two would suit the bird a lot more.We’ve a few fields in corncrake scheme... hardly heard a corncrake since?
