African swine flu decimating world pig population!!

Ive been hearing about the impact of this swine flu in China and Africa but it appears to be moving at an alarming pace across the planet!!

Was reading about this earlier: as many as 130 million pigs killed out of an estimated 300mil in China and the slaughtering may continue for 4-6 years. That is assuming a vaccine will be produced but there is no sign so far of any break through on this.
Think about the fact that the Chinese pig herd is half of the global total so one quarter of the worlds pigs have been killed due to asf.

supposedly there’s a shortage of protein in the world because of it.

makes me wonder two things.
Firstly, perhaps this is why the vegan rubbish is actually a play to get the population onto plant proteins to prevent an uprising of upset meat eating bellies.
Secondly, if we are experiencing this huge demand for meat, why does my arse seem to hurt so much after selling cattle lately?

the outbreak is only a few months old as yet....as said on vid the drought in aus has meant surplus beef from forced slaughtering,,,the point being it's to early for us to see improvement

The Chinese are very good at controlling markets and have so far limited the amount of imports and therefore the world price. Hopefully this control will start to slip as they get more desperate and we will see the world price rise. However one caveat of the reduction in pigs is also that grain prices have fallen as there are a lot less of them to eat it!!

Don't underestimate the importance of pigmeat in China. It's a major part of their diet and a continuous supply is one of their Government's top priorities.
