Agleader auto steer and front press

Hi everyone, we have recently got agleader incommand on our drill tractor with on trac 3 autosteer system on rtk. We run a 3m lemken solitair and kongskilde wavy disc front press. I'm finding that when drilling a straight a b line I can't have the press down because it throws the steering out because it overcompensates to keep it on the line. I've tried everything like not putting it in float and carrying it but even just tickling the ground the wheels start turning and gets worse and worse until there in full lock. I've altered cross track error and inquisition and nothing seems to work. Has anyone else had this problem and how did you solve it? With the press up it drills perfect
 
Are you working " with " or a slightly crossing previous workings. . Does press have steering ? You will have to make steering more aggressive. And run with the work if you can and is linkage on press loose enough. . Had that trouble as it was gripping frame so it got altered as it was steering tractor cured it now If you where on green star would take a pick of settings Try more settings

Hi will, yes the press has got steering, I've been playing about with it all season and can't seem to find the right setting. I've been drilling behind cultivator and plough following the same line and it still does it. It's a wonder that agleader hasnt got a setting allowing you to tell the gps that you have a front press on? Do you have greenstar or agleader?
 
Green star. Sf2 Have got settings fairly high. Wheels are quite twitchy when up at 10/12 k on lighter land Coil with front tines seems to steer better than big ring press with tines 1 st field with new big press till got settings right looked like been on pee all week but got it something like half way to been decent now

Front press and motorised steering wheels are notoriously difficult to work together. we had same problem with Topcon system. it simply doesn't know where the front wheels are pointing. Now using a steer ready tractor and handles front press no trouble. can you retrofit a steering angle sensor?

I've heard steer ready tractors work better, I'm using a jd 7530. Don't know wether it's possible to fit angle sensor? Does anybody out there know?

yes jd7530 has a dedicated wheel angle, i 'm using it on my own homemade system. Pushing a front implement does not give any troubles.

Did you get the wheel angle sensor through your jd dealer or Gps dealer? Think I'm going to have to try it cos I've tried all the settings I can

Just ignore that last message stef, just realised it's the potentiometer on top of the knuckle joint! I take it you need two of them do you?

Before you buy a wheel angle sensor, check with you ag leader dealer that it will support wheel angle sensor. If you are in U.K. It's Derek Johnson at precision solutions

Yeah that's who we got it through last year. I've been onto them and the ontrac 3 that we have has a sensor built into it so there's no need for wheel sensor. Ontrac 2s didn't. Chris the technician is going to come out in spring when we get going again.

Interesting, but how does such an integrated sensor work. After all the steering wheel points to a completely different angle after some driving. Does not help much if the wheel is calibrated first.

When I calibrated the steering it did full lock to full lock calibration, it must have done it then

Getting off topic but are you sure you did not have a real steering angle sensor in addition in this case where it worked better?

I understand the wheel motor must have performed some sort of a calibration but not necessarily trying to reach what a real steering angle sensor does (or I've missed something, in which case I'd be happy to have a technical description to learn more, again).

My point is that on a fully hydraulic steering system, the wheel lock-to-lock calibration as measured from the steering wheel itself will gradually lose accuracy (accuracy for the zero angle, not that much for the "number of turns", perhaps the latter is calibrated automatically). Try to keep the steering wheel fully turned a while and you see it keeps slowly rotating while the front wheels obviously do not. Turn back to straight forward position and you see the steering wheel points differently.

The system might "self-adapt", trying to detect when the tractor drives straight and recalibrate automatically. I doubt it works in scenarios like the front press here or when ploughing where the auto-steer often wants to turn a couple of centimetres off the furrow.
