Agricultural services

Hi guys,

As some of you may have spotted, after selling up due to health problems (terminal illness) I've setup doing agricultural remapping and Diagnostics.

Not a keyboard warrior with cloned kit, proper equipment and training.

Stage 1 maps, eco maps, EGR dpf and AdBlue Deletes as well as multi brand diagnostic, calibrations and coding.

And GPS tracking too

Do any of you have any other ideas of some extra services? Things like stereo fitment, auxilery services fitting (things like in built phone chargers and the like)

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated, and if anyone has anything they want done, willing to travel [emoji4]

Tia and keep well

Anything electrical or electronic.

On the remap thing, I have a Claas Xerion 3800 with a Caterpillar C9 engine. It’s shocking on fuel and way overpowered for my job. Anything that could be done to improve economy?
Don’t get too technical with me, it’s all a bit over my head!!

I've just messaged you matey.

When you say anything electrical, anything in mind?

I've got a workshop now which will house a self propelled or combine in size, and am quite happy with the spanners for most jobs, and the electrics are quite straightforward.

I've been thinking about reversing cameras, lighting, tractor customising etc, just looking to see what people would be after really

I was thinking anything electronic or electrical to offer as a general service.
Even classic era tractors have systems beyond many owners capabilities let alone more modern kit.
I’ve had auto electrical folks here but you can tell they don’t really like working on farm kit. After conversations with local engineers they struggle to find specialists too.
Its just the same for folks running lorries, they can’t find good auto electrical technicians either.

Good luck with your new venture. The electronic side of tbings interests me, I like fiddling with that sort of stuff and computers dont phase me at all. I have wondered if the remapping job would work up here (N E Scotland) as there isnt many at it here.
Dont know your skills, but How about blacksmithing type repairs?? Or mobile welding? In this part we are very lucky with some good blacksmith/fabricators but none of them are interested in repairs. More than happy to sell you new feedrings/barriers/loader bucket/muckfork/bale spike but go in needing a repair on any of that and its a pretty luckwarm response. I mainly do my own fixes but not everyone can. Perhaps difficult to make money at though?

Thank you [emoji4] I know there are a few people in my area at least who do it, but I'm trying to be open about it all as one or 2 of the guys around here won't actually tell you what they do, or how (part of me wanders if they know [emoji23])

Through college I did an agricultural engineering degree, and am a confident welder (mig tig stick brazing) but again a fair few people do it in the area, and I have to be a bit careful about over doing myself physically or I'm pooped.

Trailer lighting, light bars, and electrical would be a handy addition, have been asked by a few of the younger generations for improved radios and things, phone chargers etc so I've got a load of the USB charger points.

The GPS trackers are really good, you can se up a sort of virtual fence and the second it goes off that you are alerted straight to your phone. It's a 4 quid/month subscription but also gives you a WiFi hot-spot in your tractor [emoji4] pings every 30 seconds using 14 different satalite systems too, 150 quid installed

I really do admire what you are doing. You said you will be fitting vehicle electrics? This is and can be incredibly physical job at times. You have to lay upside down and bend your hand the wrong way to hide things behind plastics that will do everything they can do sap every last bit of energy you have!
I wish you all the best! Chin up mate!

Thanks mate, yes I know, trying to do the wiring for a bale trailer, joys of having a mechanic dolly with wheels, was like watching a sh!t bobsleigh run [emoji23]

Don't get me wrong there have been a few times where I've had to call it a day early, mainly because I got knackered from climbing in and out of a self propelled [emoji23] but there's always the next day [emoji4]

How about Air-con type work? I think the nearest specialist is the other side of Carmarthen.

Yes and no, I did think about it but you have to be a registered refrigerant gas operative to do it.

I've done a bit of digging, and done a research project, and have managed to wire a wireless reversing camera to my I or Williams trailer with feed coming in through the truck viewscreen. Works well

Update guys, the GPS units work a bloody treat, got one running on a quad, a truck, a tractor and a mini digger, and a standalone one on an Ivor Williams box. Accurate, well hidden and actually quite reasonable.

The wireless camera on another ivor Williams box is also working well, decent picture too.

Even done a heated seat conversion on a loader for a chap who loads lorries for haulage. Reckons is bloody brilliant [emoji23]

What GPS units are you using? I take it these are trackers?
Have you found a reasonable deal for the SIM cards in them?
Yes, fully integrated, run off 6v-36v setups, so cover quads upto plant. Really handy size to hide behind a multitude of places.

Yes it's 4 quid a month subscription, so rather than putting money on a sim constantly, it's a 4 quid direct debit payment each month
