Have a few Lim x sim heifers I’d like to have AI’ed this summer. Have any of you regular AI folk got a program you follow for synchronising that works well?

Had good success with this for heifers, just a single AI too so saves on that side of it.

Thats the method I've used in the past, but honestly, I wouldn't bother again, the success rate is so far below that of observing natural heats and using some kind of heat detection device.

I suppose the benefit is you get them all AI'd on one day but because of the circa 50% success rate, it turns out to be disappointing and costly.
And you still have to do the other 50% 3 weeks later.
I use estracect stickers

Used that method on dairy heifers and worst was 84% and best 94% but they have to be grown well and on an rising plane of nutrition
On dairy cows completely crap
On heifers you get 3 services in 42 days
Day 1 , day 21 and day 42

How do you find the ones who don’t hold first time do in the follow up cycles? Main idea with doing a batch was to aid AI person seeing as I don’t do it myself.

Yes, last time I did it they held second time.
So I suppose its a more efficient use of time. Plus you know when they will come back into season the next time.

But, last time for me, it involved 2 AI's in successive days each time, so 2 x 2 straws for the ones that didnt hold first time plus AI charges, thats what I mean by expensive.
And that time I was using straws that cost 30 quid each

I did it for a mate first 3 years we got 100% success rate on the first time. The next few years there was a few that didn’t hold and they were a pain in the arse to get in calf then.

Hi, for heifers - what is the 2ml injection on the 26th May and 3rd June? And can I get cyclix and CIDRs from the vet and sync them myself?
The in injection is Ovarellin/Recaptal. Cyclicx is basically Estrumate. Its vet only. They may let you have it but they’ll need to check the Heifers beforehand to make 100% sure that they’re not in calf.

Yea they’re 100% not in calf, is the ovarellin the same idea as pmsg ?

*edit - spoke with vet, have them lined up to do everything, will let you know the program once I get it + results.
