but it should go in a fridge at 3am.
In our bottled milk business we get plenty of examples where the milk is in the fridge, but the customer doesn`t check the temp, or is not aware what the correct temp should be, or hasn`t noticed the fridge is fooked .
When they ring up it`s always " There is something wrong with your milk " No there isn`t, its your storage temperature.

Chance of a bite from a bale after milking, but we’ll be on a full silage ration later next week 🙁

Agreed, but one would hope that a business specialising in refrigerated food products has a more regimented temperature checking protocol.

Your chemicals would be next for me. For the tank and parlour.

What's your wash water source? We have a big storage tank that fills between milkings and have recently discovered it was filthy 😭 no wonder we were having problems.

So just got out the tank and unfortunately all clean in there, hang fire now until my next result is back?

If that's also high what should I start looking at next?
How hot is your hot water fir plant washing. Can’t be too hot is my view, and out the wash line still too hot to hold your hand in, or it starts to deposit fat back on as it cools.

when my new to me tank arrived, it had a massive build up of milk stone on the back of the exit tap, tricky spot to clean without taking it to bits. Several goes with the steam cleaner gig there in the end, but with milk stone, the problem is when it comes away and exposes the bacteria built up below it.

two problems this week, bacto shot up, cause, plastic pipe intake, from chemical drum, gone brittle and split, dead easy for a change.
2nd, temp gauge on lorry reading hot milk, and kicking out, it's the pipe is to hot, actual milk temp, around 3.5/4.5, but as temp driver, call to office, before filling, yes ok. Never had that before, just shows how hot it has been, thankfully much cooler this morning
Hays hauled and undercover, lovely drop of rain overnight, freshen the grass up.
@Jdunn55 airline ? But could simply be a one off, in this heat, or cows coming in shitty, where they have kept in a huddle, and stood/led down in the mess.

Water heater. Any pipes that need replacing? Ours was high last time as well just waiting for next results to see what’s happening.

The hot water comes from a cotswold water heater, I'll try and empty it and have a look inside if it doesn't come down, cold water comes straight from a borehole

Chemicals should all be fine, venture were out last week sorting my feeders out as they packed up and the week before servicing the parlour and we changed the rates but other than that they said they were fine

Also suffering from flies, was going to swish all the cows (as long as theres no milk withdrawal as I havent looked!) But got told by someone trying to sell me stuff that it's a waste of time at the point in the year and needs doing in april/may for it to work?? Is this right?

Unfortunately not the cows (see the thread about my electric fencer not working) as they had the run of a 15 acre field for the entire 2 days this collection came from

I'm just hoping it's a one off spike which although annoying I can cope with!

Highly likely to have been operator error, don’t panic just yet. Ours went from 2200 down to 20 this am. Check tank, Chems are being taken up and wait and see what happens now this heat has passed.

It could well be, I do all the mornings and I like to think I'm pretty good, but had someone here for the past 6 weeks who has been less good hes handed his notice in now (not upset I wont lie) so will soon see!

We use spotinor for flies on the cows, nil milk withold (17 days for meat I think) and it certainly helps keep them from pestering them for 4-6 weeks.

That's what I thought but he said I'd be wasting my money as you need to do it in april/may and then keep repeating every 6 weeks in order for it to work? BUT he was a salesman and was trying to sell me fly spray in bulk...

If your thinking of doing them or not with swish, I'd probably do them and then you can see for yourself how well it works on your farm. We did them for the first time this year this last week less flies and less kicking next day here
