I understand the logic of that. But we tried it last season and the flies were as bad as ever and the stuff only seemed affective for a few days.this but we haven’t done the milkers at all and at this moment idon t think we will have too. I am sceptical as too there affective ness after all these yrs.
When it didn’t work, did you do all the cattle you had around, houses stock around the yard as well? Or just the cows. Midden or some other source that they could grow on near by and then jump on tge cows as they come in

Our cows are in a parlour with a low roof , and 2 big fans each end send the cool air through !!
But if we dont use the old Turbair fly fogger in the calf pens round the corner in the same building , about an hour before the cows are in to milk ,they come out in large quantities , feeding on cows legs ,backs !
If fogged , hardly anything ,which proves its not the flies coming in with the cows ,into the adjacent big shed before the parlour , so much ,but coming out of the roof ,walls ,when the flies sense warm cows are in to be fed on . In our case anyway

Not had any in the parlour yet and not sure why think it’s mostly because I’m only milking a few at the min but usually having to spotinor everything by now but as mr mackay said they don’t come in with the cows there ready and waiting In the sheds

We don’t have any housed cattle in the summer. All loose houses were cleaned out early. Haven’t done got round to cleaning out sheds so far this season. All,I can say is long live late April Frost’s !

get a test kit from QMMS and sample every tank full after AM and PM for a week, catch it out of the milk line before the tank and then out of the tank, narrowing it down makes it less daunting.

What chemicals are you using @Jdunn55
1 litre of Deosan TC 86 in the morning as a hot wash (75litres of water) circulated for 6 minutes
1 litre of deosan phos clean duo in the evening with 75 litres of cold water also circulated for 6 minutes

Do a pre rinse before hand with 200l of cold water
And a post rinse after with 50 litres of cold water

All cows are teat dipped with foam, wiped until clean enough that I would be happy to drink directly from the cow (I'm a little bit ott about cleanliness in the parlour) and then post dipped afterwards

I'll ring them tomorrow that's sounds like a good plan! Thanks

When would you try and catch the milk out of the line? On the last row when I pump through?
