What is the carbon footprint of these type of systems? Is that important?

A local farm is burning straw to heat tunnels to produce out of season strawberries.

If the energy produced is from a renewable source not a problem? AD. Renewable energy subsidy to increase profit? Is that correct?

Energy offset versus less transport.

Obviously out of season local fruit will be worth £££.

That's the problem, it's very difficult to get a premium for out of season local fruit that makes it worthwhile.
Imported is usually cheaper, and will stay that way until the true cost of carbon credits etc are reflected in the sale price.

so the richest man in the country buys land to prevent inheritance tax. then builds an AD plant. receives Zillions in RHI and Tarrif subsidy but cant use all the heat, so concretes over half of Lincolnshire to produce an out of season crop. whats not to like.

Perhaps he bought land because he always wanted to be a farmer?
How do you become a farmer if you aren't born on one or inherit one?

Dont get why everyone is so against the guy.
