Just putting together the vat. I've an Amazon Prime annual membership invoice for a straight £95 and no mention of any vat . Is their vat included in the £95? How do I go about printing off a vat invoice.
Amazon paperworks a nightmare.

If it's for a small amount i just work it out myself and claim, it's easier than trying to get VAT receipts from people like amazon, bt etc.
As long as you are sure there is vat charged, Hmrc don't really care below £200.
That's been my policy for 20 years

Need a Business account? Amazon keep pushing me to have one that I resist.

I did have one purchase where the seller refused a VAT invoice but charged it, so I emailed back again and pointed out that their refusal was illegal... Invoice sent soon after ;)

I couldn't find the "my Amazon prime" link but I've printed a membership receipt for £95. I take it this must include vat. and that I need to scribble amazons vat number on it.
Having trouble finding their vat number.

Can you claim the VAT back for Prime membership? I'm all for claiming every penny I can from the VAT man, but I'd struggle to justify claiming for something that gives me music and video as part of the deal (Even if Clarkson's Farm is part of it!). Plus only ever ordering stuff for farm use and never personal items? Maybe I'm too cautious......

Next day delivery (well it used to be next day) would be a sensible reason.

I file it under postage costs.

My advice is to avoid Amazon like the Plague! Prime is more associated with a scam!

You’re worried about £19 worth of vat..? 😆😴 I know pennies make pounds but Jesus 🤣
Well HMRC paid me a refund of 16p recently straight into my business account. I rang them to point out that it had cost me more then 16p in bank charges to accept it. They couldn't even tell me why they’d sent me it, it wasn’t a monthly VAT refund amount FFS.

16p doesn’t bother me in the slightest. But my bank grabbing 16p and more does.

They keep pushing me to get one too. When I tried they wouldn’t allow me to use the same email address  :X3: :banghead: :banghead:

Mine is registered as a Business account, but not 'Prime Business'. If you get Prime Business, then the TV streaming and other 'house' stuff stops, so can't see any advantage.
I can click on orders and get a VAT receipt to print off/save on every order with a couple of clicks. The only disadvantage of the account I have is that I can't buy through Amazon Imports, so had to open a personal account, on a different email, to buy a moisture meter from the US recently.

I've always put the membership fee down as a business expense, as it's in order to get free delivery (you don't have to watch the tele, etc), but assumed there was no VAT on that subscription as I've never seen it itemised anywhere. Have I been missing out?

Some people spend so much time worrying about the pennies that they miss or lose the pounds.
Exactly my point, if it has a vat invoice with it fair enough but for the sake of £19 worth of vat I wouldn’t go out of my way to chase it up. Either claim for it and hope for the best or don’t, it’s not worth the time messing round with it.
While you’ve spent the time to chase up a vat invoice and post a thread on TFF you’ve lost more than that in time better spent else where in your Buisness or accounting. I’m sure there are cows that need tending to, sheep that need checking, crops that need harvesting or something more constructive to do with your time

You do realise the thread was started after 9pm? Do you really expect them to be out working at that time? You could watch some crap on TV or do something constructive. Had the VAT number in under an hour so I’d say earning £19-20/hour was time well spent. Other years it’ll be to hand.
Anyway what on earth are you spending time replying, shouldn’t you be working or doing something more constructive with your time?🤣 (I’m sat drinking a cup of tea & having my breakfast btw).
