ANIMAX 3 in 1 sheep bolus

Animax rep this morning told me they should be about a pound, so presumably that's the RRP.

Had a box of 200 dropped in this morning. I bought the pack with the 4g Copper boluses too, for £200 (& a free gun blagged via the Animax rep). I'll give them a go on the March lambers next week, before I decide if I'll get some more boxes for the main lot. Certainly look a handier size, and within a few pennies of Agrimin SmartTrace +.(y)

Mine came from Wynnstay, but they're not on the shelf as they have loads of the traffic light ones to clear first (which I suspect will be discounted to move now).

Yes they will but only if you have the lamb adaptor on the gun, I bought a new animax gun but have since found out they do fit in the agrimin gun, the agrimin gun is better as there is more resistance in the trigger so less likely to press it too soon.

+1 I just tried one in the Agrimin gun, with the lamb adaptor on. It fits, but it's tight. I broke a bit of the red part of the bolus off when I pulled the trigger, but maybe it was a one off.:scratchhead: Good to have a spare gun anyway.

I've used the Smart Trace thumb sized bolus for Beltex ewes. I was a little concerned when I opened the box but my ewes suffered no ill effects from their use.

Update: I bolused a dozen or so in-lamb hoggs on Sunday. I must admit that they were very much easier to administer than the Agrimin ones. 600 more Animax boluses ordered yesterday.(y)

I always tend to do triplets in the race because some of them can't get up the combi clamp ramp [emoji15] and find it easy enough. Especially if there's someone with me to load the gun!

Just in from using some tracesure Se/I boluses on my first lambers. Did not need cobalt as covered by a Mayo bolus already.

Compred to the Mayo bolus gun I found the Animax one much harder to use, it did not feel long enough and had a number of ewes spit the bolus straight back at me, did not happen once with the Mayo gun. I was worse with my larger ewes.

Much prefer the mayo gun but no harm done to any ewe.

That's the bolus I used to give to my eye Hogg's. Never tried them on ewes, same gun too. Never gave me any issue. Not sure now why I stopped doing the Hogg's (n)

Well all i can say is that im very happy with the change ive made from agrimin to animax 3 in 1 + copinox. Bolused 250 ewes this arvo and it was like night and day compaired to agrimin. Slimmer gun easier to use and never had a single sheep choke or spit them out. Just phoned and ordered 1200 more will do the hoggs with these aswell. (y)

Just compared the two guns. Animax top mayo bottom. Mayo longer and more slender.

Both worked fine but preferred the mayo one to be honest.

got my animax today , was surprised how easy they went down , just take a bit of time (sh rams the worse as they coughed up a couple and crunched them up before spitting them out ) , Has anyone found a bolus with selenium + vit e and no copper , as i recon that would be better pre lambing rather than rely on lifeline type buckets etc

They used to (& one of the reasons I haven't used them), but they've just released a 3-in-1 bolus, so you just give one, and a copper capsule if needed.

Incidentally, 4g copper capsules are a lot cheaper from Mayo, than the Coppinox ones, and have a bit of extra Cobalt in them too. Exactly the same size.
There is a 4 in 1 now, Cobalt, Selenium, iodine & zinc. Or the 5 in 1 with the 4 grams of copper oxide needles as well. The 3 in 1 is the lamb bolus which you need to add copper (if required).

Also the Mayo ewe bolus (4 or 5 in 1) has 350mg Cobalt vs 185mg in the Animax 3 in 1 and only 144mg in the Agrimin smartrace. The 5 in 1(with copper) is looking like it's around £1.10 per ewe. Seems about right for the TE levels and the ease of use. TBH I have great feedback from any brand as long as there actually is a TE deficiency and it's not something else causing the problems... it then comes down to price and personal preference.

Put 500 mayo lamb finisher boluses in lambs yesterday, have to say the Mayo gun is very very good.

Got 500 ewe cobalt masters to go in ewes next few days, as a change over from smartrace.
