Another Vet Dropping Large Animal Work

Our local vets, Hay Vets, are reported to be stopping large animal work from January 1st.

They are part of a bigger group and the decision was not totally unexpected.

How many more vets will be tempted to close given the money that can be made from small animal work?

I think there’s a place for people to be more specifically qualified for just farm work to save on the training somewhat. Farmers on steroids if you like. Be a good job for a few keen farmers sons and daughters to work from the family farm to earn some decent money and not have to go near small stuff. Amazing how much the hobbyists call in vets for lambing and calving.

Haven't heard that but I'm not surprised, been trying to get some blood tests done on sheep (funded through Farming Connect) nothing but hassle.
They, like other vets struggle to find large animal vets, Ian is a very good vet but seems to have far too much to do

I agree, so many things that vets do on farms don't require a vet.
