Barbers have the same policy. If you supply Tesco you have to test every cow you have treated with antibiotics (tube or jab) before she goes back in.

I think it’s basically the same as Sainsbury’s producer club. Which historically has been a big customer for themBarbers seem to follow Tesco uncannily closely. Sometimes even at the same time.

well we do that anyway, for our own piece of mind and we are not on a Tesco contract. What's the issue?I can’t fathom having to do that. Does anyone actually do that?

Do a delvo test on farm, takes 3 hoursWhat’s the time line on that? X number of milkings after calving as per label, then you take a sample and wait a few more days for results?

Not heard much but they have started taking money out of my milk cheque for the tanker that went down but they never told me that they were doing that which I am fuming about. Yet they say they won’t get the paper work sorted for me to claim on the insurance for 5 months, what’s that all about?? Meanwhile I’m being deducted money of my milk cheque for this! What a ball ache! Got NFU on the case as they shouldn’t be taking money from the milk cheque without consulting me, come back with the excuse of the member of staff that sorted it forgot to inform others and then went of holiday! Alright for some!Have you heard any more Will?
YesI can’t fathom having to do that. Does anyone actually do that?
Milk buyer is happy with it. Although any fail at their end will be blamed on farmer messing up. They never mix up samples / labelsDidn’t figure that was accurate enough
Heard a story of back in the quota days of a dairy farmer who was fully insured for the tank if antibotics got in that would every March when coming to the end of the qouta year would avoid buying/leasing 2 days of qouta by putting purposely an antibotic cow in the tank, test the milk in his tank before the tanker came, it would test positive, he then would dump the milk and claim off the insurance. He was also certain that it toke more than 1 tube in a cow for just his tank to fail as he reconed he knew from past experience!I remember the next door neighbour telling me that she accidently put milk from a treated cow in the tank , she explained to the tanker driver so he phoned the office , she had one hell of a surprise when the tanker driver said he could take it as they were desperately short of milk
It's not accurate enough though!!Do a delvo test on farm, takes 3 hours

Your delvo test can pass on farm, you can even get your milk buyer to do the delvo test and pass it. But then nml can still fail a sample because the testing equipment they use to screen the sample is more sensitive. I speak from experience !!
Correct @farmer on a bike the problem is that the automatic screening at nml is more sensitive than the best lab technician! That can only be correct if you have used the wrong delvo test or a test kit which has not be kept properly (out of date or not refrigerated, although I think you should automatically get a fail in that situation). NML use the delvo test themselves. There are slight differences between buyers as to whether they use the delvo test SP or Delvo test T as their standard, which is where you could have an issue. From memory Arla use Delvo test T and most other buyers were using Delvo test SP. But this is exactly the same at the NML lab. They effectively use the same test kits but use an automatic reader.
You may be confusing it with using a beta star test which is much quicker but does not cover some antibiotics. It is fine to use if you know for sure which drugs could be causing a contamination and that these are covered by beta star.
