Looking at my plough today Bob and worked out I can move what will be the front furrow forward by 5.5" on the 3rd furrow frame by putting the rear mounting bolt for the leg in the front hole and then just drilling the middle and front bolt hole for the leg and then cut the frame off 16" in front of the front leg bolt hole do you think that is about right ?Just where the frame straightens in between the cross member and the front leg holes. Put 4" in there and the headstock rising braces should come about upright or leaning back a little
Your getting their then Pete are you hoping to get it ready to use this season ?Anything wrong with this?
Hopefully I will get to use it this season. Hoping to get the mouldboards sand blasted.Your getting their then Pete are you hoping to get it ready to use this season ?
It is the standard length one that came on the 59 I looked at it yesterday and thought it looked long, I think it just looks that way because I have used the narrow third furrow frame ?That looks a nice long cross shaft, how long actually is it?????
Your getting their then Pete with your plough, I have a slight problem with putting the leg's on my frame on the outside as it only give 9 1/4 " between the leg's will need to put some sort of spacer down that side to space it out the 3/4 " needed for 10"furrowsAs you are using a third furrow attachment and I'm using the main 2 furrow bit my legs should be on the inside and your legs should be on the outside. As for the plates I don't think it really matters but Bob does suggest to but both plates on the inside for more adjustment. I would have put both plates on the inside but I had already welded it a bit too much before I realised.
I am just using a standard cross shaft on mine.
I thought you only had to put the front leg on the outside and then it would be 10 inches.Your getting their then Pete with your plough, I have a slight problem with putting the leg's on my frame on the outside as it only give 9 1/4 " between the leg's will need to put some sort of spacer down that side to space it out the 3/4 " needed for 10"furrows
It don't quite work out like that Pete because it had an extra strip of steel down the right hand side will post a pic in a minuteI thought you only had to put the front leg on the outside and then it would be 10 inches.
Was wondering how I was going to get around that one, was going to use the strip that was originally bolted to that side thinking that it would strengthen the frame as well, will look at what you have said because I want to make some thing that I can adjust the leg upwards 1.5 " for closing the crownit needs a spacer in it, a bit of plough beam is 7/8" and the right size for 10" furrows, but i put in the top off an other leg, its 1 1/8", so i plough at 10 1/4" on YL in vintage, and legs on outside of the beams for 11" on TCN in classic
