Spent £1200 servicing 2 199kw hertz boilers on friday and yesterday morning one wasn't running, the light beam on the pellet feed from the bin had packed in, was only fitted 5 months ago. The service guys want £500 to supply and fit a new one and says the old one isn't covered under warranty even though its only in since May. Found the exact same part online today for £257 and I can fit it myself in 10 minutes.

Pretty much everytime when something breaks on my hargassner woodchip boiler. On the other hand there is a great dealer nearby who until now has had everything in stock so hey.
The same couldn't be said of the old veto, parts availability a complete gamble with insane lead times for parts that you kind of need right quick fast in a hurry and not in 4 weeks time.
Thonking back I am quite happy he couldn't even be bothered to contact me for a quote on a new one.

I should get on with the job then. The more of these jobs you do, more you will find to do!

I had found a new guy to service our boiler, knew his stuff and did a good job, all aligned with the main agent etc, but I just couldn't buy a lambda probe from him, because he was duty bound to get it from the agent/manufacturer for a considerable amount in excess of the price on the street. He seems to have gone out of business now, which is disappointing.

Absolutely!
I have a boiler and an Aga. I can pretty much service the Aga myself, but I had a local firm come and service the boiler each year. If I couldn’t get the Aga to behave after my servicing it, I’d ask the same firm who service my boiler to sort it out.

The twit who owns the firm wasn’t happy that I am clever enough to service my Aga (they really are very easy to do!), so deliberately stopped allowing his son to service the boiler.

I’ve a bloody good mind to report his firm and behaviour to Trust a Trader!

Thank goodness I have found someone else who can do them both and doesn’t mind the fact that I can service my own Aga.
