Our Case dealer supplied us a kit for refurbishing the steering ram on our old Case International. I know the Ford is a fair bit older but have you ruled out that a New Holland dealer might be able to provide something similar?

Just had a thinking afternoon they were an aftermarket kit supplied for Ford tractors and maybe other makes by a company called four wheel traction of North Audley street London . I have 2 ford 5000s with kits on The original one was bought when we put a Front end loader on in about 1980 about £400 ish

Update on the story do far...managed to take the ram off and took it to a local hydraulic repair co who recognised the ram as a type they used to work on many years ago. They no longer work on these as they were very complicated to work on and the chap I spoke to thought the ram required special tools to strip it down he also said it's a tough one to set up right, he gave me a few numbers to call and these firms also had stopped repairing them years ago, one company said bring it in and we will look at it but when I got there (80 mile round trip) was very apoligetic and realised which model it was - it was one he worked on years ago and said it was so tricky to work on, his recommendation was to fit a complete new kit. Looked at new ram on line for £200 but none in stock so fitted the old one back on so at least I could move the 5000 out of the way for a few months.
Here is where it gets good........topped up with new oil, fired her up and all steering was back to normal - the problem had been limited lock on one side while fine on the other along with a oil leak (not on ram but on front ball joint attached to steering arm). Used Wynn's power steering leak seal additive and the leak has stopped as well. Ran it for 20 minutes yesterday, tight turns, left and right full lock and all ok. How come it's fixed itself? My thoughts are that the oil was old or dirty and contamination had got into the control valves causing them to bypass somehow. I tried working out how long it's been since the filter had been changed in the oil resivior and I'm embarrassed to admit how long it's been so it's having a new one fitted next week and again fresh oil to make sure the system is 100 percent clean.
It seems I may have been a bit lucky this time around and I'm keeping my fingers crossed it's a permanent fix.
Thanks to all for your suggestions and help. 👍

ive had similar on tractors used for towing aircraft and when one lock was lost on a single ram it was usually the diverter valve on the pump/box on the older tractors it was a simple shaft with o rings on it and most of the time was just dirt fouling it up , the old david brown tractors with two rams where fun if you got the pipes crossed
