There’s always another day,
If I was the dealer I would just take it as free advertising,on balance the comments have been pretty favourable and he’s probably had more traffic to his website than he’s ever seen.
Hi all,
Has anyone known of any issues with sales from JR Firby at Slingsby?
Bought a David Brown from him which when i tried it, seemed to be in good working order with everything working and he told me that everything worked as it should even the PTO (which i specifically asked about). Got it home and put it to work and can't engage the PTO (the clutch plate seems stuck) and the selectomatic lever has come off in my hands. I've never seen a leaver just come off either so it must have been going for some time.
He was reluctant to reply to my phone calls for some time and when he did, he didn't seem interested in sorting it until i reminded him that he told me that everything worked as it should, and that given the price I've paid for it, it is now parked up and of no use.
He's supposed to be calling round to look at it at some point, so hopefully he'll follow through on that.
You've taken your time to appearSo are you giving Firbys a chance to come out to look at it?
Be patient, you don't need it right now do you?
I can call and have a look at it if you want.
I can transport it there for reasonable money too...

How bizarre...Brother bought a haymaking machine from a company in Keighley, the instructions were taped to the machine which had obviously been out in the rain for quite a while, so the plastic bag was full of water.
Gave the boss a ring and got a mouthful of abuse, better things to do than supply new manual for it, refused to pay for it and suggested he send the wagon back for it.
Nobody came to collect the machine, then some 12 months later one of the fitters turned up to do some modifications.
Sat a further year or more unused, untouched, then out of the blue the wagon came and took it away.

I would change you stocking choices and also your tyre manufacturer.i once had a triple blowout on my stock trailer taking ponies to market, 3 of which sold for £10+buyers premium, the others didnt sell. profitable day out.
Its different trade to trade than it is trade to public , otherwise you couldn't sell anything unless it was in perfect working order , a lot depends on what`s on the receipt .No! Incorrect. Stop posting this rubbish.
The Sale of Goods Act 1979
The Sale of Goods Act 1979 implies four terms into any contract for sale regardless of whether such sales are B2B or business to consumer (B2C). These are as follows:
The majority of farmers will be sole traders, if you go to Morrison's and buy a cheese sandwich but it's actually tuna you can take it back! If you go to Screwfix and buy a drill and it catches fire the first time you use it you can take it back! If you buy a 10k tractor and it's gearbox falls out when drive it home - you can take it back!
- the transferor has good title and has the right to transfer the item sold;
- the goods correspond with the description given;
- the goods will be of a satisfactory quality and fit for their purpose; and
- if a sample is provided, the goods will correspond with this sample.
Goods have to be correctly described and fit for purpose!!!!!!
Now, now, be fair to the man - he just turns his back for a day or two to write his Christmas cards and 13 "pages" of "knowledge" appears as if by magic..........You've taken your time to appear
