Anyone made any hay yet?

O.K.
Right FT,
its green, its "fresh" it is also poorly baled(from an experienced visual perspective, i.e the density)
So purely from a layman's perspective
What moisture content?
From the centre of a bale after sitting 24 hours.(say)
Almost said "what weight per tonne there"(thinking o when good hay was sold by the ton/tonne, not "per, unspecified weight or moisture content, bale")
cheers
mth
P.S.
Me Da usta speak, disparingly, o "battles" o hay, being slack baled poor hay that ud heat if baled tight.

Does that mean its going to be cheap and plentiful? We have made twice as much as normal. I'd guess its the same over the country. I think we'll need a hard winter to sell all of ours! But there'll be less silage here.
Hot dry summers usually result in strong forage prices as grass burns up ,yields get depressed and farmers feed when they should be grazing. Wet summer cheap forage.

not made hay as decided to wrap some fairly dry haylage as it wouldnt have made hay yesterday, just come in having lead the last of them and have got absolutely drenched in a 20 min cloudburst ,rivers of water everywhere, just had a look and nearly 20mm, so for once looks like it wasnt a wrong decision

assuming not vutting dead standing grass then colour is good as long as its sufficiently wilted, shows its not been done to death - and to some extent picking it with the baler tends to dry the last few bits going into the chamber. Upto 305 hay bales, another 50 to go but having break for couple of days.
