Can't see the appeal of JCB machines, the fit and finish has never been that great and they feel clumsy as hell. Claas or Merlo.

Had a demo scorpion for a week- found it very clumsy- alot the adornments like mirror and mudguards seemed like an after thought and just harboured dirt and the hydro although great about the hard was shocking on the road- slightest bank and it unlocked slowing you to a crawl. This was the 130hp 7030.

Tried the Kramer this time , same issues as it’s the same machine just gutless on the road , massive bonnet and the amount of mirrors on the side reminded me of a mods scooter !

Looked at 541-70 Agri Super and Pro but bought a Merlo 42.7CS-140 CVTronic. The cab suspension is good but I’m not sure it’s as valuable as Merlo suggest in their marketing. The merlo joystick safety thing is absolutely woeful and will be sorted asap though. It’s a stupid idea at best.

The new prices were virtually identical but trade in prices varied wildly so we sold our jcb privately.

I'll bet the Merlo was dearer than the JCB?
wonder why JCB has never made one with some sort of Cab Suspension?
Shame about that Joystick coz unless they change it i wont be buying one.

We’ve had a 536-70 duel tech for 2 years now having bought the demo.
We don’t put a lot of hours on it but it’s much better than the previous model we had (535-60), especially on the road. My only criticism is that it is very thirsty on diesel!

Same price except the merlo has cab suspension and the jcb hasn’t. Also I think merlo are better at towing than jcb.
i cant believe a 100% Hydro Trans is better than that Torque Lock idea on them JCB's when there in top gear on the roads.
I do prefer how a Hydro Trans works tho & until i test drive a JCB with this i'll leave my judgement on them.
I Defoe know one thing my older merlo doesn't like hills in top gear, it will pull a house down in 1st gear tho.
although at a much slower speed

ah but it will have 145hp wont it? does it feel powerfull? if so i could live with using a bit more diesel.

My AgriPro feels very juicy! Shockingly so.......but I think it’s because it unfortunately has a much smaller fuel tank than my previous machine.

My previous 535 AgriSuper was pre AdBlue, and the new AgriPro is obviously AdBlue. The AdBlue tank is located under the cab, taking up some space where there used to be fuel tank. There is also the AdBlue pump and an extra battery, all occupying space where there used to be fuel tank. This has greatly reduced the fuel tank capacity.
Now, the fact that it has a small fuel tank, for the size of machine that it is, and certainly compared to previous models, is another debate. But the fact is, that the ‘thirst’ of the newer machines may just be a mind trick?....

I did meter the fuel into my machine this year, and tried to keep a record of it. Unfortunately I never did that with the previous machine:facepalm:, so I’ve nothing to compare it with! :banghead:

Long and short of it is, I don’t think it’s that bad on fuel, it just feels it because you are filling it up all the time.
And it uses very little AdBlue imo.

I’m hoping that in line with redesigning the cab, that they can address the fuel tank capacity issue. But when you look around the JCB, it’s hard to see where they could better locate and of the components? It would be a major repackaging excercise to regain the fuel tank capacity.
And many are hoping that JCB will put full suspension on the new cab, difficult to see where that can be achieved without raising the cab higher, which I don’t think many of us would want?

If and when a new generation JCB is released, it will certainly be interesting, as I have been told that they are striving to outclass every other manufacturer with the new cab! A tall order?
And what will all this cost? They are dear enough already, are they not?

Does anyone tow up hill with a pro ?

Have done yes, our 540 pro towing a grain trailer and a livestock trailer with about a dozen in calf heifers in. It dies right down to 8 mph or under on a steep hill but this is no worse than our 540 super. Infact it is better on the road to be honest, I enjoy driving it.
