Are you happy with your bank?

As the title, are you happy with their service, what ever that maybe ie borrowing/banking facilities. Do they have enough branches, knowledgeable staff, phone services any good, efficiency or lack of, rectification of problems. Just interested to see if there are any common threads amongst members with any of the banks, highstreet banks or any others.

cheers

Us technophobe oldies have had a bit of a hiding. First the branches closed to be replaced with Transit vans.....now Lloyds has even given the van the chop. I've taken my business to another bank that can afford to run a Transit. :)

Personal accounts with Barclays... Can't spell the Village correctly on their letters despite it being correct online etc but everything else is fine. It's a Packaged account where now I'm not using the benefits and it's costing me.

Closed 2 Local branches and silly hours on the next local.

Business banking is Santander it works fine. Statements , Notifications etc but it's costing me. 2 Local Branches but never set foot in one in 3 years.

Whole lot's going over to Starling Personal and Business , I set it all up the other night and will transfer it all over in the next couple of weeks... All through the App/Online. I had a query after I set up the other night.. 11.50pm. Live chat. Good English. Query answered.

Funny you should mention this, I've been less than impressed by dealings with my bank in the last 72hrs on one matter.

Wanted to dispute a transaction for items ordered but not delivered and raise a chargeback to reclaim my money.

Tried to do it via Live Chat - was told I had to ring the normal telephone banking number.

Called the phone banking helpline - 20min wait, lady took down all the details, then put through to the "Disputes" team...further 55min wait, they took down the details again but told me I hadn't been "endorsed" by the BTB team so they'd need to put me on hold and get clarification from them agian. 5min wait...then cut off!

Next day tried again. Helpful lady answered and said she would get hold of the disputes team then call me back. 35mins later got a call back, put through to the team. Gave them the details - we'll send you a form. How please? By email. OK.

24hrs later...no form. Call up again, 40min wait, lady answers and apologies for the wait. I explain the situation. Kindly she gives me the direct number for the disputes team (nothing shown on website in disputes section about this) and says she can put me through but as it's a bank holiday they may not be working. Alas, I get a recorded message - this office is now closed. Call back Mon-Fri 8 til 6.

Check my emails 5mins later - Disputes "team" emailing me a form (note earlier the office was closed). Open the attachment - it's a totally standard form with no details at all that I had given them. Asked to fill in all details and post(!) back to them. Check the email address it came from - ends in ".com.ph" - I assume Phillipines.

Given the phonelines were likely overwhelmed by businesses calling up requesting Bounce Back Loans that have just been launched, it seemed a complete was of everyone's time and giving customers more reason to get annoyed.

Why oh why can't they just have a form on the website to fill in.....or a form you can download and email back to them?

Oh, I know.....that would make it too easy and people wouldn't get put off by doing it so the disputes team wouldn't be overwhelmed.

Only personal accounts but originally one with Barclays and a bill paying with HSBC,,hsbc closed the local branch so moved it into a second with Barclays,,they put me onto the blue rewards which has made a healthy return in 10 months,,much better than a savings interest account

Really helpful information - at least it would be if you told us which bank you were with.

RBS no bother.
Good relationship manager, regular chats, business things etc. Fees are good, in fact very good company to others I hear from time to time.
Very low borrowing, but can peak a reasonable overdraft pre harvest circa £200k.
If anything would like to give more money.

got sick of hsbc and moved to handlesbanken 4yrs ago, can't fault them.
How do Handlesbanken work as they dont have branches as such do they?

We are with Lloyds and they are becoming a liability. Sometimes though its better the devil you know but i think the way the banks are helping their customers during the pandemic indicates whether you should stay with them or move on. ie those who look after their customers get the business Lloyds certainly are not looking after us well enough considering they have our money on deposit.

Lifted off the website:

"Handelsbanken is a Swedish bank established in 1871 with over 200 branches in Great Britain."

That's probably as many as any other bank nowadays, if not more!

Handelsbanken branches don't have counter services. They clear through HSBC so you can pay in and withdraw at their branches.

Their online system works well and they still offer traditional "relationship banking" where you can always speak to the same staff who know you, recognise your voice and have authority to actually do things. They don't half like their paperwork though (expect reams of it to formalised what you agree with your account manager each time).

If you have money on deposit why have you a problem?

Their customer service is terrible. For example I don’t want to go into the branch to pay in cheques, and the telephone services ask you to give all your details then cut you off. So as a high risk person shielding how do find out how to pay in cheques? So I have a dozen cheques I can’t pay in without putting somebody at risk. The bank is open from 10 till 2 so there is always a big queue. They were crap before the lockdown too. I would move banks tomorrow but I need to know which one to go to.
