They were welded, but cattle rubbing and pushing at feed gave a bit of flex which eventually broke some of the welds so they've been bolted back on.
The gap for the cattle to feed through is 18inches.

20ft bays. All bolted. Can flex a bit if the bull decides he's going to lean on it with all his weight in the centre.

The barriers offer a bit more surface area so it looks less open/stops them being too inclined to try hopping over.

That's why they're bolted in the other way round so they lean on the round not the edge.

I thought this was a good idea we did at work. 600mm panel at the bottom. Could be shuttered I suppose. We did have to raise the feed trough a little as the beasts were rubbing their necks a bit.
Top rails infinitely adjustable as it's only on lindapters.

500mm panel. 42inch gap to the base of the barrier. The barrier is 12inches so overall height is 52inches. We do have young calves hop in and out so diagonals would be better but we've never had a mature beast even look to try and step through/over.
