backstop

I voted out to stop us becoming part of the US of europe, which if you dont have a life and wanted to check you could find I have said on here many times, cant see irelannd wanting thousands of illegal immigrants transiting through eire to get to the north so its not going to be a huge problem, why woud eu citizens want to come illegally, especially when according to many remainers the uk is about to go down the pan ?
Goods are pretty easy to check remotely, the main ones that will have tariffs would be food and they are very traceable already, the other main one woulld be cars and cant see many wanting to smuggle them, now if the eu want to control our exports to them then let them put the border up
'Goods are pretty easy to check remotely" Says the man with not a clue. Makes you wonder why they have borders anywhere. Or checkouts at supermarkets. Technology is really easy to promise (Fat Controller Bad teeth Johnson promises that a lot) but harder to deliver. IF it were so easy it would all be done and dusted by now. The total lack of any solid presentation of this mythical 'technology' speaks volumes

Actually I have spent a lot of time with welsh, even my next door neighbor here is welsh, and it does help me to understand some of your postings. The welsh have their own quaint twist to English gramma and I actually quite like it

Care to translate for me then? I have fluent English and French, and a small amount of Swahili, Arabic and Gaelic and I still don’t understand what he’s asking.

You should be telling us! You're claiming 'technology' will enable checks, inspections etc. But you, like everyone else making this spurious claim, is totally unable to cite any border where your GPS and 'spy in the sky' is making checks unnecessary. (I'll clap when you give me a valid example)

IF the British government were able to demonstrate or cite examples, then the backstop - our promise - would not be needed. The fact that these solutions are not available and we won't be able to keep our promise (nothing new there) is why the government wants to weasel out of being held to account to a solution it does not think it will be able to implement

Exactly give the man a clap.
So why with modern technology won't it work there as no boarders there also.
They disagree about everything even positive things?

Because some people voted for there to be no customs union, no free movement of people and no free trade.

If we stay in the EU, we won’t need a border, but some people don’t want that, were sold a lie that it would be easy to implement and now won’t accept that it won’t be.

What do the irish suggest then?
If Can't be in eu and UK the same time?

Why, why should the Irish have to suggest anything? The UK wanted to leave (well some of them). No hard border for Ireland because of decades of fighting. Clearly the English (and it is predominantly the English) don't give a damn about that so they suggest mythical 'technological solutions'. If they actually are achievable, the backstop won't be needed. If they're not, you can't just walk away and break your promise. Unless you went to school at Eton.

bj says to get shut of the backstop
its his metronome beat of his policies
educate me as to how it could be implemented in the real world of immigration and trade
The EU are always wanting lots of extra details about any UK proposals, from which it seems fair for one to infer that they have their own required level detail for all they propose. SO why not e-mail the EU / EC and ask then precisely how they expected things to work when they were proposing a Canada+ deal, with no backstop... You must remember that, it was immediately before TM and OR bent the UK over a barrel and pulled its cheeks apart. (y)
