Bad winter on way!

I would gladly take a harsh winter over constant heavy rain, the last severe winter i remember would have been 1982.

There was a massive amount of snow that year, but around 6 years ago, it was very cold and everything frozen for weeks. Christmas day here was -15 and the gas froze trying to cook a dinner for 10! The stream froze completely, which I have never seen before or since. I dont want another like that!

That was just 4 years ago was it not? The winter all the sheds were falling in.
Started here 29th November. Snow and -15c for weeks before it finally disappeared mid Jan 2011.

White with frost here this morning.

Have you seen the YT footage of Cenarth falls frozen over during that time? That's something i thought i'd never see.

Cenarth in flood this Saturday. There is usually a huge waterfall where the island is, there was so much rain that the river was full, so no waterfall. The noise was tremendous!

In 2010 we stocked up with rock salt and sand after our 1 in 5 drive became like the Cresta Run and 4WDs and tractors were going down sideways if they could get up it in the first place, I stored bags of grit at the top and bottom and it did the trick because we've only had a few inches of snow since then..

If the severe winter only lasted till March I'd be delighted. We can still have snow flurries in May. The year of the big snow we never saw the earth from November till the end of April and the temp dropped to -24. The bore hole froze and we tankered in water from neighbours for three months and lambs froze to metal hurdles inside the lambing shed. So, if it's to be a 'really bad winter' and it's going to last till March....bring it on.
