Bailer help

Hello I recently bought a Massey Furguson #12 bailer and having some issues with it. Its my first attempt to mow hay on our farm and have no knowledge with these types of bailers. The problem im having is when I engage the pto the bailer will spin until the pusher comes in contact with a rod and then the pin on the turn gear will shear off. I have a few pictures hopefully it will help as im not great at explaining things and have no idea what the correct terms are for the bailer parts. The 1 pic is the spin gear shear pin. 2-3-4 pics are the pusher getting stuck while coming in contact with the rod. 5 pic is the underneath of the rod which connects to a spring. Thank you.

The baler won’t turn over because the tips of the needle s are still in the chamber ,if you pull them out by pulling by hand on the frame they are mounted on this will lower the ram stop out of the chamber then turn the flywheel manually for a full cycle to check the needles stay out of the chamber as the ram goes down don’t start the pto until you are sure all is working

I was able to remove the spring which lowered the ram. The bailer seems to be operating with the spring removed and ram down. Will it bail like this or do i need that ram there? Thanks
