Looking at new 16 tonne trailer, priced up Bailey and Fleming, both look good, both around same price and near enough identical specs

what’s everyone’s thoughts on which to go for

Bit of everything really, mainly grain and cattle muck. Will also do bit of stone and beet

If they are the same price buy a Bailey might or might not be a better trailer but it won’t be bad one and will be worth a fair bit second hand

Yeah noticed Bailey are worth 1-2 thousand more second hand than others

Got quite a few low sheds, are they lower trailers or just the way they tip?

Yea we run two a 14 t and a 16t both grain trailers good trailers tow well etc and my guys reckon they are nicer to see into than some other makes so no complaint here

The tipping point is further forward on an HM

Speccing a new grain trailer

Just looking at the moment, what extra's would people recommend? Probably 14t trailers as need to be able to tip them in the sheds, they would also be used for muck carting I'm afraid but at least they are used through out the year. The most obvious extra's being 1. Hydraulic back door 2. Sprung...

Lots of trailer manufacturers in NI, Fleming being one of them although they would be well down the list if I were to be buying one

We have a 12t Fleming which we bought new October 2016. It's used for road work, we haul all our own feed from the local mill with it. It is a very good trailer.

Initially we said no when the dealer said about it, but after looking at it (sat beside a brand new Herron and Smyth in dealers yard) it was the preferred trailer. It replaced a very old Kane 12t - it's better built than new Kane trailers (looked at them too and were very disappointed) - and is superior on the road to the old Kane

The paint will be the poorest part of the Fleming but so far it's standing upto it fine on our trailer.

Bailey 11t used for muck, grain, tree brash and soil over the last 8 years has been spot on. Commercial brakes are worth a lot doing roadwork. Bailey 15t used for grain only, doesn’t really have a hard life in comparison, but I also recommend. Bailey factory not far from you, whereas Ireland is currently experiencing transport issues due to brexit. I have no experience of Fleming.

I found the suspension on a Bailey was too soft. trailer doing a lot of rolling around on the road. I prefer single leaf suspension on Western trailers for our roads.
Buy commercial brakes whatever trailer you end up with.
