Can the general public turn up and buy a car or is it only registered dealers nowadays?
Do they still run live auctions?
Long time since I've bought one from the auctions.

If your a registered business could you get amongst it though? Got a vat number etc?

How do they know this isn't the start of you turning over loads of vehicles, everyone starts somewhere!!

Is this a recent change? I bought my last truck from bca in Peterborough about 5 years ago; just rocked up and got a number same as a farm sale 🤷‍♂️

Not really sure , a few years ago 4 or 5 off us used to go about 5 o'clock on a Thursday night and watch or sometimes bid , leave about 9ish and stop at pub on way home , was a good night out at times . We was going to go a couple of months back so phoned them up to see what time it still started at and was told unless we are dealers we cant come in , also in my other post i said a dealer can take a guest in which yes they can but guest is not allowed to bid on vehicles .

It’s the commission that kills it for low volume (ie private) buyers, they really screwed anyone brave enough to bid compared to the registered trade buyers, to the point non trade buyers were ending up paying closer to retail prices.
The only way to get around it was to view the cars yourself and have a friendly dealer discreetly bid on your behalf for a bit of ‘private’ commission.
It now looks as if ‘non trade’ aren’t even allowed on the premises, it’s just a cartel / closed shop these days to keep the muggles and the dabblers out and leave more stock to go to Cazoo.

If you've got a business you can set up an account, I did at the start of the year and bought a car.
Just out of interest, what was the commission rate shown on the invoice?
(I need to go back, just trying to work out the rules of the game).
