Works well on all types of bales as the bale if held tightly against the bed moving bed of the machine by the hydraulics which means an even discharge on all types / shaped of bales

Or might just try oat husk and lime, dusty but cheap, not much absorbancy though, but doesnt hurt bank balance as much! Im not too much of a fan of flipping willy nilly bedding, dont think it helps the cows somehow.

Chopping the straw bedding finely with a chopper beds cubicles quickly and efficiently… keeps your cows clean and dry….. encourages heifers to lie in cubicles….is very cost effective

Anybody using the Mootress product, now straw is so expesive? was thinking of trying a load to just dilute the straw use for the yearling cattle bedded on deep straw yards. says its 55% dry mater but is that too wet? its free apart from delivery cost?

You won’t get hold of any. I’ve rung everyone and there’s not enough to go round so I’m settling for Miscanthus

Have experienced using gypsum in the cubicles. 5 cases of mastitis per 100 cows per year. Worked well and good in the slurry for the land

Be very careful with gypsum in slurry. It gives off hydrogen sulphide?? possibly, and is deadly

Don't US gypsum it's deadly. I will be using milled peat . low ph absorbent and clean and easy handle.
