Not all cattle can be pushed like a Charley. I killed a home bred heifer this week out of my store pen, just under 30month, 650kg on its feet, was a 4H . Mother was dairyXAA father my stock bull BBXLim.Why do people not push them harder earlier? We'll have year old charolais at similar weights. Some of those are almost 2.

Do cattle pay feeding them for 9 months...I take my hat off to you guys who can make these older, native grass fed cattle pay, they probably do eat very well, but with such small margins I am very weary to try myself.
Feeding intensively for the last 6 to 9 months I feel is the only way to get enough throughput to be commercially viable.
Unless you do direct supply...Don't get paid on eating quality.
Yet.....
Do cattle pay feeding them for 9 months...
They’ll have to be gaining some weight...at 9 months feed they could of eaten 2.7 Tif They’re gaining the weight, then yes
But don’t let em creep over 700 lw!
Young, little beasts won’t eat 10kgs, they will when they’re nearly fit though. They’ll have to be gaining some weight...at 9 months feed they could of eaten 2.7 T
2.7 tonne @ £200 = £540 for feed alone. If you pay £850-£1000 for them they arent going to leave you much..........apart from their muck. They’ll have to be gaining some weight...at 9 months feed they could of eaten 2.7 T
I think if you’ve paid £1000 for them and it takes you 2.7T to finish them you want to find a new hobby2.7 tonne @ £200 = £540 for feed alone. If you pay £850-£1000 for them they arent going to leave you much..........apart from
