You had any lambs going yet @Andrew1983 up 5p locally to average 1.98pp/kg (y)

Nothing away yet Jim, lots of smaller lambs bought this year so needing it all yet. Have half on swedes the other half just finishing stubble neeps an going over to swedes end of this week. Contemplating just putting the whole lot in to Dingwall once the neeps are done, will put hoppers out for last 3-4weeks and what’s fats fat the remainder can go store. Don’t have the will/time to be going through and drawing every week and as much as I enjoy going into mart for dinner and watching them sold it’s not best use of time!

Only downside is I can see is hitting a bad day when trades down. At lest taking some every week or 2 spreads the risk!

What was trade for heavier lambs like?
This seems way higher than any other markets [emoji106]

I assume the prices quoted were for @beltextexel ’s lambs, rather than the mart average?

Bear in mind that lambs are weighed just prior to selling (empty’ish) up there, rather than when they enter the market (full bellies), so a 42kg lamb in a Northern mart could be 44kg further South.;)

That’s not taking anything from the prices quoted though, which were obviously some very tidy lambs commanding a healthy premium.

Had heavy rain here early so lambs were wet but pleased with price
Can't compare with prices further up country though

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
