I think sheep job could be more volatile in next three months than all last year put together. The country is in more of a mess than any of last year
Sheep job should have be fine but of course the most incompetent Government we have had in several generations will of course make life extremely difficult for exporters etc which will no doubt hit farm gate prices!

Saw that but healthy top of £130
They say store cattle up £50 on the week

Does not surprise me about the store cattle trade today.

The current store cattle trade makes no sense as i have seen no end of cattle sold recently that still need another 60 days in the feed pen which have been making £100 more than if they were going straight up the line the day they were sold in the store ring!

If kill is up 20% on the year surely these Hoggs will have an outlet. They will have to get it sorted at the ports and fast, not doing anyone any favours especially if it is posturing.

Where did you get the 20% figure from?
There was a period in June and July where there was a significant increase but overall the figure up to the end of December is nearer 4% but there may have been a small decrease in the numbers of lambs born to the year before.

I find it surprising really, I thought everybody was shifting them before d-day

I agree but I also have a feeling that the numbers of lambs was lower than 1% less than the year before.
However there have been some large numbers of stores sold lately and several finishers who are still hoping for that magical £150 or £200 by Easter!!
Significant difference in the pence per kg for lighter hoggets than heavies this week and it would be a brave person to carry very heavy weights through.

Yes interesting stuff, ours are going backwards rapidly with this dreadful weather we are in but usually hit between 38-50 kg weights

One market manager in ireland is quoted as saying monopoly money was spent on store cattle this week with strong stores up €180 on decembers prices as demand outstrips supply.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
