I’m glad the wether is the one behind the Suffolk. I would cry if that was a toother wether.

Prime cattle will be very short next summer for a few reasons:

1 : People will cut out the cake/grain so they will take a lot longer to be ready

2 : Cull cow numbers will by then fall off a cliff

3 : There will be very few barley beef bulls being done by next winter and those that normally come thru the plants in 12/16 months time will not be there but instead run on as steers.
so the store trade will be poor next spring as cattle which are normally reared as bulls are chucked into the store ring?

With hoggs teeth is it teeth missing or teeth broken through? Got a couple that have no teeth.
They are only a toother if the tooth has cut the gum. Had this argument in Newark a couple of years ago, tried to throw out some with teeth missing but no cut teeth. I was told they had been marked because they may not be killed till next week and may have there teeth up then, I politely told them I was selling them on the day and not my fault if the buyers holds on to them for days.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
