Yes I can remember my father pulling a face at the graders even before they had started and we had a field where the green marked rejects went into. They always went back and were sold the next week. Sometimes you couldn’t tell the difference between what was rejected over fat or lean. It was more of a supply and demand thing the number of rejected lambs fluctuated due to it. I didn’t remember any stores turning up though! My Father used to say if you complained, they would go back in the pen and mark some more.
