Hard to know without seeing them but Well fed and fleshed continental bred lambs. £3.90 to £4 would be nearer the mark I think? I would be a bit disappointed with that as well on current trade. Shame there your last other wise I would be trying another auction or a gentle reminder to the auctioneer.

I drew 10 hoggs out of mules off to go for lamb boxes out of a batch that went over the market scales at 46/7kg, they killed out between 23.5kg and 25.5kg
Anything you have killed to have back will always be several kg heavier than any standard abattoir dressed spec.
I've had equivalent heifers come back 50kg heavier than normal abattoir weights.

Having said that, you can see why they do it when you then work out what saleable meat you end up with from that carcass.
But you can bet they don't throw away a lot of that trim.

Haha our face doesn’t fit and we’re only small fry
Spring lambs there 47kg made £120 I felt sorry for the people selling them
It’s a shame the rest of our hoggs can all go dw or to a mart 70 miles away
