Farmers Guardian just rang and asked for a quote about this cash advance, I didn’t know anything about it.

I stumbled out something about how 25% would help with cash flow but in order for us to grow next year we needed more money, not staggered payments.
I find it quite insulting to be honest. It merely highlights the comtempt that big business has for its growers / suppliers right through the food chain. Its no different to Tesco announcing it will pay more to our pig farmers. Its a spin story to highlight their own perceived generosity. And as @robbie has said, there will be others who claim to be instrumental in the whole process.

I don't know about others but I've built my business to expect my beet income Thought the winter, I know in theory it'll still be there but for some will it not get used before and then come beet season they've got a cash flow that's only 75% of what it should be.
They might be paying early because they have seen the cost of the newly approved third insecticide, Movento. @£80/ha.
The money is also probably coming out of the virus yellow fund too.
Their generosity is code for "please don't grow osr next year instead of beet"

Cynical, I know.

Exactly an ordinary crop of rape at ton acre will wipe the floor with beet and I recon that tom an acre could be grown with a total chem cost similar to an application of movento

I think they are worried. I think on this thread I've already said how a chat with the fieldsman very soon came round to him asking almost desperately what the rotation for next year might be.

Well planning for next year here as begun and 40ha of beet has 3 big question marks on the white board already

Looking in non cruiser beet can only find blackfly currently. Surprised I can find any others. The odd beneficial about. Have only had 1 insecticide. Almost at 12 leaves. Too big to hoe really which is a shame (not I dislike hoeing) as a few big bindweed, resistant BG and vol potatoes are going to survive.
