Best way to incorporate round bales along a feed fence for winter feeding?

How best to do it? If they are chopped will they go through a diet feeder ok? Or are they too much hard work and diesel use? Can you mix other stuff in with them I.e blends etc with an auger bucket?

Keep it simple - bales are expensive to process through a feeder wagon. Are you not able to put them along the feed fence with the loader and let the cattle eat them themselves. Push them up when they have reached all they can.

I guess you may justify processing bales to dairy cows but to beef cattle i think the simpler the system the better.

I just roll them along with the Manitou.
Feed 100 cows in 10-15 min that way and you only need 1 machine so less to break down and maintain.

Just dump them on side of pass and cows will soon sort them out. Don't know why people waste time and diesel breaking them up.

Farmers are obsessed with machines for this and that to mess about with. A telehandler with a grab and a bucket can feed and bed a lot of cattle with a good driver. A spread a bale if you work alone so you don’t have to drive in pens.
