Certainly push a few boundaries to explore the envelope of capability, but you will find your land has a ceiling of performance that is only reached when the stars all align and every factor involved in yield goes your way.
Agree with sentiments on both sides of the argument here, attention to detail costs nothing- frivolous applications of non rigorously examined inputs are not. Soil, water, sun N & K are the key. Long term muck/grass(OM) massively helpful.
Given our land and rotation we are a 10-11t/ha averge farm, have been a 13t/ha farm. Farm for the former and accept the latter graciously by going for a socially distanced beer with the lads!
