Block cutter to shear grab

If you mean as in loading in a feeder wagon, it’s perfect, no getting off the seat, everything that goes in the mix is handled with the shear bucket, mine holds approx half ton of blend.

I will need to look into who carries shear buckets in my neck of the woods. Don’t fancy switching buckets and hooking hydraulics up at -30 this winter. Shear bucket could just stay on all winter.

We can get around 800-1000kgs in our prodig one. @eulb has a triolet if I remember correctly
No I had the biggest Shelbourne bucket grab they made, they don’t sell it anymore, possibly not man enough as my loading shovel killed mine despite us substantially beefing it up.

I did order a new Albutt 250 bucket grab last year but a balls up with communication between my dealer and Albutt meant it didn’t arrive so I told them to stick it!?

It was £5500 plus brackets, looked the best built to me as it’s got Hardox tines under the bucket base.

I bought a normal shelbourne grab and have fitted these to my loaders, means I can swap attachments faster.

I see you’re in Canada, when I was doing internet searches for shear buckets I came across a Belgian firm Robert, but the info I could find on their shear buckets was from a form a dealer in Canada, I liked the look of their shear buckets but never found anyone to sell them here.

Id guess saftey guard...

Is it grain tight when closed?

Would leak small grains or ground corn like a sieve... The plate metal folds up and down on hinges so you can run it with just the tines. I tried it on the corn face with the plate metal down and it made a tidier job of it. My only concern is that since it just rests on the tines it may accidentally lift when shoved into a silage face.

My shelbourne was spot on with bales, cut in half drop then pull the wrap off.?

IIRC the pro dig opens wider than others so makes it better suited to bales as well as its ability to hold onto net and wrap but as I haven’t experience of others that’s just a theoretical advantage

Correctly sharpened and with the right operator there is no reason why a shear crab should not leave the face as clean as with block cutter we made the same move about 25 years ago when the parmiter block cutter came to the end of its life and was replaced with a parmiter block cutter
