Blood sucking ahdb

Time this thread was put to bed now, there's far too much vitriol and green eyed monster to be of any value.

No chance this thread will be put to bed until the Secretary of State, George Useless, has made his decision. And even then it will still run on whilst we discuss it 🤣

According to the link the sector chairs get £32k, so would the sector board members get only 20% of that?

I thought the sector board day rate was around £250/day on the time commitment about 24 days per annum, so approx £6k 😉 ..... but I might be wrong and you may know better. Sector board members at different rate to main board members.

When it comes to democracy do the ahdb think they are exempt , they are now going to extract 8 million from the horticultural sector and another 6 million from the potato sector this year , considering staff are leaving in droves and have not been in the office for over a year it begs the question what will this money be used for .

Yes hindsight you have to feel slightly sympathetic to the people losing their jobs , but a considerable number have left the commercial sector and the pressure of having to earn their salary ( quite a number of agronomists thought it better sitting in ahdb office instead of walking fields in the rain ) and work 4 days a week for more money. The thing to remember is that tens of thousands of potato and horticultural growers have lost their livelihoods as well , there used to be 30,000 potato growers there is now just short of 2,000 did anybody shed a tear for them I think not.

You must have a touch of mixi white rabbit. 30,000 growers maybe 50yrs ago, but lots has changed since then, there are a huge amount less people in agriculture full stop for a start.
The same equation could be said for the dairy industry - at one time there was hundreds of milking herds smaller than 50 cows, not so many now.
Things change, people make choices, get over it & move on

Sounds like he needs a new calculator.

Unlike the cool kids, my spuds are 100% contracted, all now delivered. I might miss the big money, but I also miss the £40 years. Takes money, makes choice etc.

Too many folk in the past made a packet on the free market, gone big, got greedy, gone bust.

I'd rather grow a few less, do a better job, make a few quid & enjoy it.

Do you feel guilty that you effectively hounded them out of their jobs with a campaign based on lies? Or are you okay to have ruined a few careers because it’s only collateral damage and it’s saved your (debt ridden) company some money?

I bet the AHDB staff didn't feel guilty that their wages were paid for decades by people who didn't want to pay but had to on threat of prosecution and ultimately jail.........some of whom may have gone bust as a result of those forced levy payments.
