Bloody thieving gits and folk who deal with them

I just think we shouldn't stereotype.

Are there bent coppers about. Aye, a quick Google will show that. Are all coppers bent or refuse to investigste crime? no, because for every copper sacked for misconduct/neglect of duty there's a copper who stood up, did the right thing and reported them.

Are there travellers who commit crime?yes. But not all travellers are criminals. There's white middle class farmers stealing other folks sheep. Doesn't mean everyone is at it.

I walk around the farm with a big bunch of keys (like a gaoler). Keys for tractors, bikes, sheds, trucks, car and house. The gate is alarmed I have cctv and I still get thefts. The police offer to give me advice on security (and offer me counselling FFS). All I want is to live in peace, minding my own business without being visited by parasites. The older I get the less sympathy I have with them - though I never had much to start with.

The current system has been tried and has failed. It is time to blame the thieves and not the honest man, who should be able to leave things lying around without fear of them being stolen
Completely agree with you. But there is still every week tractors, cars getting stolen with the keys left in them. The harder we make it for thieves the more chance we have of catching them.

i had a trailer pinches a couple of years ago a pcso found it plus some other stolen stuff 3 weeks later wee picked it up from a farm contractors yard and it still had its load in it

before christmas had a discovery stolen form a different farm yard was recovered by the police the next day

not heard if they managed to prove who it was

as the recover firm staff said the crooks are brave going to farm yards because a few have been shot
not that you would want to be hauled through the courts to proved you did it in self defence

as we live in remotes areas we need to make our farms more secure but the footpath rules do not help with access

One night a few years ago I was woken up by my quad bike going flat out down the lane. Luckily enough it doesn't have any exaust or I wouldn't have heard it. Anyway I took chase in the car up the main road and caught up with them and rammed it at about 40 mph. The two lads pulled up in a field gateway and took off running and I got my quad back. I didn't report it and said nothing to anyone but about 6 months later I heard the story back on who tried to rob me. The two lads were underage so the guards weren't going to do anything so I had to sort it out myself.

We have a very poor system over here where the law seems to be on the side of the perpetrator.
If you were getting trouble from bad people here and you made it known you have a shotgun and would use it to defend your property or family chances are the police will come and remove your gun. Getting it back will be extremely difficult.

No "chances are" up here in Scotland, it would be an out-and-out certainty.

And the law is always applied equally, just a bit more equally to some than to others. I had to laugh at this signage the other day. Of course, it is a mistake (I think?) but we know who will get nicked if they choose the wrong one!

(Translation: The P means you can park, the double yellow lines mean you can't So a contradiction -- maybe).).

Yes, but I bet in percentage terms there will be more thieving travellers than thieving farmers or corrupt coppers.

The word is that the thief told the farmer that his rear light was faulty and as he was bent down repairing it, the thief's traveller pals kicked the sh!t out of him, but although they made away with the trailer, farmer managed to block the rugby player's exit. The police were called and when they arrived, instead of arresting the thieving git, the policewoman hugged him.
The story now is that they haven't stolen it and the trailer can be collected any time from the traveller's site. Who is going to do that I wonder? Not the police for sure.
That story needs to get into the papers. Wrecking the rugby players career is a far worse sentence for him than any court would dish out...

Last year a major farm crime ring was caught with a lot of stolen stuff, turns out the guy giving all the inside info was a guy scanning and doing AI and knew every farm gate code, where key was hid to farm gates etc
A lot of thefts are local knowledge and passing on the info to guys to rob these are lower than a snakes belly and the real tramp in all the stealing that is done.

Someone has to charge and convict him. Charge him at least, so that his name becomes common knowledge and a solid story.

Anyone else know anything about this incident?
