Bottling milk....

Ok so, thinking of going onto business with the neighbour as he has dairy cows, can anyone advise me on a company that can supply bottling equipment. Would ideals be looking at plastic pint bottles with a screw on top. anyone had any experience in small scale bottling ?

We started with a manual 4 point filler and screwed them on by hand.
Market is key and volume will dictate what level you run with.
To kit out a purpose building you could be looking at €200k plus

Public all want glass bottles ,but extra weight on vehicles, handling, water boiling ,sterilization etc.etc NOT green process and don't look good with carbon footprint figures?

Depending on location how about the vending machine route , just would need to be 100% confident in your neighbour supplying top notch milk with no contamination

I agree, the environmental health implications of that arrangement could be scary. One slip up by a guys relief dairy man and you food poison your own client base?

Your one stop shop for all things milk processing and packaging ....

Are you thinking Untreated, in which case only the producer can apply for the licence and take the responsibility which comes along with it IIRC.

Washing glass bottles the day before and storing overnight filled with a Hypochlorite solution is about the best way of sanitizing them - Poly's are simpler but the current move to direct sales is at least partly fuelled by the perception that glass is "Greener".
