BPS 2017 help thread

Have whole field that were planted with grass for ELS field corners. Now in Mid Tier under option AB8 (basically flowery grass). Just trying to decide whether to put them down as TG01 (temp grass) or FA01 (fallow). Wary of using TG01 because they love trying to turn it into permanent grassland after 5 years, even though they shouldn't do that due to it being in an environmental scheme.

What code should I use?

Whats the issue with grass turning into PP in year 6? There is no problem ploughing up PP in years 6 - 15 (there is no specific timeline) if you can show that it is improved pasture and has been rotational or reseeded. What they are not wanting to be ploughed up without inspection is natural, species rich PP which has not been cropped or rotational over the last few decades.

I have gained a neighbours field on my list of fields. Got the application ready to submit other than this undeclared field as it is not mine. So how do I remove it? Can it be done online or do I have to send the RPA an email with the details as we have had to do over the last 2 years?

Have yet to read all the literature, but does anyone know if there is a code for maize plots for shooting? If I've got 0.4ha of maize in a field corner, I understand it cannot be claimed? Does it even need a code or can I just reduce the claimed area of that parcel by 0.4?

Seems to be if you declare PG01 for five years they automatically try and change it to PG01. I don't want the hassle of that, hence why I argued with them that it was in ELS and so shouldn't be classed as such.

I think there is a section that you can transfer land online. Not sure that's appropriate though because it's not like you're selling the land to them. I think you're best to send in an RLE1 form. Guidance on what to do to remove a land parcel is in this guidance:

Some of the Mid-Tier options can be assimilated into the main field code with no area deducted. I may be wrong, but I think you can still claim for that area. There is a maize code which is AC17, but that is more designed for a harvested crop, although it may still be appropriate. I am not sure on this one. Read this for more guidance:

The changes I made with mapping last time look like they're still pending! So I have fields that have slices of the neighbours eligible area attached! Don't know whether to fill it in accordingly or fill in yet another RLE1 form!

Hi Guys, just seen the thread.

Happy to answer any questions in regards to the mechanics of hedging the BPS. Obviously can be hedged in GBP or EUR depending on your choice.

I have a lot of data to hand on past years - do not hesitate to get in touch [email protected] & 0203 823 0368.

None of my fields have been updated since the RLE1 that was submitted in 2015 !.
Been on the phone to them just now... they said ignore mapping issues and forget about trying to edit them (option to edit isn't there). All I can do is change land use codes, which due to not being able to edit areas means I may be over or under my magic figure, ignore this! Also ignore the fact it'll red flag your efa area as insufficient and just submit it anyway. I think they've given up. The issue is though that I'll get yet another late payment year as they try to process this year's claim against last year's mapping data.

Also rang them just now, trying to find out what I now need to code my land as. They are not allowed to advise on which codes to use I was told !, I explained my situation and was told to use which code I think is best and send a covering letter to explain why I've used what I've used. Asked about my mapping issues and he found the original 2015 RLE1 form which he's going to get processed. My complaint is apparently still being looked into, nice chap as helpful as he could be really I suppose.
The waiting begins again, what's another few weeks after the last 2 years !.

I have now got some "changes pending !" notes against some of my land parcels. This looks promising and could be a good omen. But I wonder if they'll get it corrected before 15th of May. It would help greatly if they could. It really would.
