Broiler slaughterings

I've seen it happen time and time again, someone in an office ends up shaving off 2 days from the turnround to max out productivity and finds themselves losing three days in weight for age.

It doesn't pay, not when you have catchers, muckers out and washers working on top of each other, and bedding spread in still-wet sheds.

Weve had catchers finishing at one end of shed, mucking out gang in middle and washers starting front,
only a couple of hundred birds i seem to remember, but i remember the shed was washed by end of that day.

As said, nothing good comes of it, its not a sustainable way of operating

That’s still fairly long, ours is usually 7 days and on some occasions it may be 8. I’d love a 10 day turn around!

Morning @UKcakeman What size are you? do you work on a p/SqMtr/Wk after cost of feed and chicks have been taken off? If you do what sort of figure is it? If you or any others work on this i would love to know what yours is? private message if you like.
I am "Robert Wornham" total of 204K birds been in the game for 54 years farm been doing it for 62. based in North Herts.

You routinely weigh at 12 days? You can tell who's paid by the square foot and who's paid by the kilo.

Perches lifted and window blinds closed readyfor catch. There are shaving bales in there too for birds to climb on
Heat is always available used to cause an increase in vent to keep the air dry/fresh although its not coming on much recently,

How's things going for everyone?

I'm getting the impression that things are beginning to normalise, but also mindful that a few years of cheap money and rapid expansion has likely built an industry where potential supply exceeds potential demand for the first time possibly ever.

We have experienced that many times over the years. 10% destock etc. Older sites will be the first to go. Many in Scotland and south West no longer in production. Wait until American chicken comes in then there will be fireworks.
Just follow the games being played by BJ now. I think the fisherman will have a rude awakening too.
