Building a Front hopper

I’m making a front hopper by using a old Lely combination but wondered how big the fan needs to be to blow the seed/fert to the back of the tractor. I’ve got the original fan off the Combi but not sure if it big enough

If your just blowing seed or fert and its 4m or less that fan will be fine if your going wider or blowing seed and fert you'll want a bigger one

One Accord fan is fine for seed but has its limits . Both our home brew front hoppers now have weaving fans on them and they are superb . They come as a complete kit ready to bolt straight on . The one on our 6m will easily cope with beans from two metering units at 350kg/ha .

It is a combi drill but the hopper is on the front for better wieght distribution.

Saw this for sale today at Doubledays. Hyd fan and electric drive . May be cheaper than making one if you don’t want the power harrow .

Would a fan of a simba, 3 or 4 meter do for a front hopper to just blow seed for a 4.8 mtr, seed drill.?

Yes it would but those fans were very inefficient unless you had a later one with the cast casing a crary made fan

Do you mean an alaminum case not the steel ones the one I have is alamium two parts bolted together with a 5 inch output .The hydrologic motor is quit small compared with a kevernland drill fan.

Yes that Cary fan you’ll be fine that’s what most of the manufacturers use now.
