Just wondering if anyone has got or has used a bunning farmstar 80 with hbd deck. Looking at one for spreading a variety of manures but also with the possibility of top dressing cereal crop.
How well does the single beater cope with fym. Thanks

Just came across this thread, we are Looking into one of these spreaders for top dressing cereals with chicken litter in the spring. We are on 24m tramlines so will possibly need to split tramlines? What are your thoughts on this spreader? is there much saving on the bigger models? And does it spread as well?

You’d want to split tramlines anyway to avoid striping if the muck is strong.
I looked at the Farmstar at Lamma and they’re well built but not cheap.
Weigh cells and auto rate really come into their own when top dressing chicken muck on growing crops so you’d want to tick that option if available.

With weigh cells and auto rate control the farmstar hdb is about 48k ,
Not sure in price of larger models

Larger model is 2 tonne heavier empty. We luckily bought bunnings ex demo one very impressed so far especially with spread and weighers. Discs are the same as larger models. Need to slow Forward speed considerably with fym to get target application of 25t/ha but then it is speading 24 metres each side.

Thanks for the replies 👍🏼 Was thinking the same about the weight, better with the lighter machine. @gpcwm Did you get the flared side extensions? What size of tyres did your machine come on?

If you have access to poultry or pig muck, the ability to accurately spread the stuff to growing crops and from the tramlines will be invaluable and soon save you so much money in fertiliser a full bells and whistles spreader will look a cheap buy. No P and K to find either, plus better crops into the bargain. Every arable farmer should have one really.
